This is the first finished piece that I've made from the haul at the Hogg Mine. The stone is rose quartz that I cut and polished. I left a bit of the natural rough texture on top. Part of the stone has an icy-looking middle which reminded me of a glacier. Size 7-1/2.
Some other members of the Huntsville Gem & Mineral Society and I woke up *really* early and drove down to the Hogg Mine in LaGrange, GA. The weather was a little rainy, but that didn't stop us from hauling away loads of quartz, beryl, tourmaline, and a bit of aquamarine. I already want to go back!
